Raymon Blondel, member of the board of NOC*NSF and chair of the National Paralympic Committee of the Netherlands, has been elected president of the European Paralympic Committee on 6 November. As the new president of the EPC, Blondel aims to strengthen and raise the profile of the Paralympic Movement in Europe in the near future.
Raymon Blondel: "I am humbled and extremely honoured by the trust and confidence the European members have placed in me. Paralympians are an inspiration to many and the Paralympic Movement can contribute immensely to a more inclusive and solidary European society. I look forward to strengthening the position of European Paralympic sports in the coming years, organising state of the art Paralympic events and building a strong European Paralympic Committee."
Anneke van Zanen-Nieberg, NOC*NSF President: "Raymon knows like no other how to motivate and inspire people with the power of Paralympic sports. As a board member of NOC*NSF and chair of the National Paralympic Committee, he contributed enormously to Paralympic sports in the Netherlands. I am convinced he will do the same as EPC President and will ensure that the Paralympic Movement in Europe becomes even stronger, that it will inspire all of us and that it contributes to a more inclusive society.”
